Kauai Lauhala Trilby (Short Brimmed Fedora)
This papale was handmade by Cherie in 2007 using only maka moena (including the piko!). The hat is 22.5 inches (head size) and has a 4 inch tall crown and 1.75 inch wide bill. The koana (strips) plaited are 1/8 inch wide. The lauhala is from my kumu Margaret Lovett’s puhala on Kaua‘i (Margaret’s “banana bread” tree with the kikokiko speckles). Brown satin ribbon with coconut button included. Sweatband sewn in for comfort. US$200 plus postage. Shipped USPS Priority or Express Mail.
Melanistic Pheasant Feather Lei
This lei hulu humu papa was handmade (2006) by Iris Lambert in Kealakekua, Hawaii. The lei is 26 inches long, 25 inches of feathers, and one inch wide. This lei is from my personal collection, it shimmers with blue, purple, and green. This is not a "Ringneck Pheasant blue feather lei" it is made from the Melanistic Blue Pheasant. I stitched fabric over the back to protect the stitching and hooks/eyes added for convenient securing. Lauhala hat not included. US$350 plus postage. Shipped USPS Priority or Express Mail.

The hat is 20.75 inches (head size) and has a 4 inch tall crown and 1.25 inch wide bill. The koana (strips) plaited are 1/8 inch wide. The lauhala is from the island of Kaua'i.
